The maternity den is usually located in a rock shelter, crevice, pile of rocks, thicket, cave or other protected place. The young are born blind and for the first few months are raised only by female. When the young are three months, they are ready to begin hunting with their mothers.

Females of this species breed at two and a half years. As a rule, they give birth to one to three cubs. The kittens are born in a well protected den.
